Chelsea fans are calling for West Ham star Edson Alvarez to face a lifetime ban from football after threatening to kill Enzo Fernandez during their Premier League clash.

As reported by Argentine news outlet Ole, the 26-year-old threatened Fernandez, saying: "I'll wait for you. I'll kill you outside, wherever you want."

This came during the Blules' 3-0 win at the London Stadium on 21 September, thanks to two goals from Nicolas Jackson before Cole Palmer added the third.

In a tense clash, there were plenty of contentious issues including a penalty claim for the Hammers as tempers flared throughout the London derby.

The game saw seven yellow cards awarded by referee Samuel Barrott, five of which were given to West Ham players who were frustrated throughout the heavy defeat.

However, all eyes post-game were on Alvarez after news of his comment was shared via social media, leaving supporters stunned and calling for him to be punished.

Chelsea fans explode at Edson Alvarez after threat to 'kill' Enzo Fernandez v West Ham

Threatening to kill an opponent during a Premier League clash is not something that the FA nor the league should take lightly, amid calls for them to begin an investigation immediately.

While many have attempted to explain away his comments as simple gamesmanship, amid suggestions it is normal in South America, there can be no excuse for these types of threats.

As a result, fans have taken to social media to call for the West Ham man to face a lengthy ban, while others are insisting he could even be arrested.
