Dan Ashworth and Sir Jim Ratcliffe do not see Erik ten Hag as a long-term Man United manager, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed club chiefs have found United's elimination from the Champions League and their frequently uninspiring performances unacceptable.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Dutchman's position in the dugout is currently safe, but questions regarding his long-term future at the club remain.

Ashworth is expected to move to Old Trafford from Newcastle United as their new sporting director, with Football Insider revealing (14 February) that he has already agreed terms.
