Erling Haaland tipped for new role at Man City after latest development - pundit
Frank McAvennie has insisted Erling Haaland or Phil Foden should take penalties for Man City for the remainder of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Hams striker said taking penalties could give Haaland and extra "ten goals a season".
City have taken 80 penalties under Pep Guardiola but have converted just 55 of them.
As revealed by inews (25 October), the Sky Blues' go-to penalty taker Riyad Mahrez has missed ten of his 32 career penalties.
Following his miss against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (25 October), the number of penalties the Algerian has missed in the Champions League is higher than goals he has scored in the competition.
To make matters worse for the 31-year-old, he now ranks seventh in the list of worst takers in Premier League history of those who have taken at least ten.
McAvennie insisted Haaland would be the perfect alternative to convert the spot kicks.
"Haaland has got to take them, simple as," he told Football Insider.
"Haaland or Foden has got to take them, one of the two. I would suggest Haaland. He is frightening, the composure he has in front of goal. As a striker he will want to take them as well.
"That could give him another ten goals a season. From what I hear and know, he will definitely want to take them. I do not think he would need to practise them either, he has just got that kind of way about him."
