Farhad Moshiri is spearheading a radical Everton overhaul in which manager Sam Allardyce and director of football Steve Walsh are binned at the end of the season, according to a report.

The Mirror claim the Goodison Park majority shareholder will lead a second straight off-season shake-up following a campaign that has failed to live up to expectations.

It is said that Allardyce and Walsh are likely to be axed as Everton overhaul the coaching, scouting and technical staff in a bid to gatecrash the Premier League top six.

The Mirror report that Everton are keen to appoint Shakhtar Donetsk’s Paulo Fonseca as their new manager and PSV Eindhoven's recruitment chief Marcelo Brands has been identified to lead the club's summer transfer activity.

Allardyce was appointed manager last November on a contract that runs until the summer of 2019 and Walsh joined from Leicester City in 2016.

Football Insider verdict:

Allardyce has guided Everton to safety - they already have 40 points, with seven games left, after winning three of their last five - but supporters have not warmed to him. The team's functional playing style is a world away from want fans want and it appears that the club's hierarchy feel the same way following the huge investment in the squad in recent years. Moshiri is ambitious and willing to put his money where his mouth is. There was always the sense that Allardyce was seen as a necessary evil to stave off any thoughts of relegation, but a younger manager with bright ideas and a glowing reputation in the European game is high on the agenda for the Merseysiders.
