Everton's former chief Keith Wyness has claimed he "expects" the club to sell big assets like Jarrad Branthwaite, Amadou Onana and Jordan Pickford this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the potential sales are a "horrible by-product" of the Toffees' financial situation.

Everton published their 2022-23 accounts on Sunday (31 March) which revealed a statutory loss of £89.1million.

That figure comes after losses of £45million in 2021-22 and £121million in 2020-21.

The Merseysiders have already been hit with a six-point deduction this term and could land a further punishment this month for a second breach of the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Everton's most valuable assets are Branthwaite, Onana and Pickford - and Wyness has insisted "one or two" could depart this summer to help balance the books for the 2023-24 campaign.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I do expect Everton to sell some of their assets this summer.

“They’ve got Branthwaite, Onana and Pickford - I expect two of those to go.

“The uncertainty over the points deduction and a potential relegation, as a result, will lead a lot of the players to think about leaving.

“That’s one of these horrible by-products of this whole situation.”
