Everton fans celebrated on Twitter after full-back Seamus Coleman scored his fist goal for the Republic of Ireland during the 1-0 victory over Georgia.

The 56th minute strike ensured his side the victory at home in the 2018 World Cup qualifier, while also marking the 27-year-old's first goal in 40 appearances for his country.

The attacking full-back went on a long run down his right-hand side before taking advantage of a few mistakes and deflections in the oppositions defence, leaving him with the perfect opportunity to score.

Many fans of the Toffees were delighted with the full-back's goal for his country and took to social media to congratulate the long serving star.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Coleman completed a move to Everton in the January 2009 window in a £60,000 deal from Sligo Rovers.

He has played in 224 matches for the Goodison Park outfit since joining seven years a go.

Under Ronald Koeman he has made five appearances for the club in the new campaign, also scoring in the 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough.

Everton are currently sat in fifth place in the Premier League and they will be preparing for a tough test against league leaders Manchester City after the international break.
