Ex-FIFA official reveals what's next for Gianni Infantino after UEFA take legal action - 'As I understand...'
Gianni Infantino will be given three months to prepare a defence as UEFA take legal action against the FIFA President.
That is according to former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA referee, Keith Hackett, who exclusively told Football Insider that the 55-year-old could face scrutiny from FIFA's own ethics committee.
UEFA have informed the FIFA President that they will be taking legal action after he attempted to put forward plans to sell shares in the next World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup already came under a lot of scrutiny due to the money-making tactics before, during and after games, such as the three-minute hydration breaks for TV adverts.
Very few believe that Infantino could actually lose his role at FIFA, with many suggesting that another big title could be around the corner instead.
Stefan Borson told Football Insider that he believes Infantino will be given the equivalent of a CEO role next, but Hackett has other ideas for the controversial figure.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Hackett said: "As I understand it, FIFA have an ethics committee and a disciplinary panel themselves.
"And they can vote on determining whether they themselves consider the president to be in breach of the rules and regulations.
"Everybody's going to get a load of dosh, but he decides to make a unilateral decision that he's going to sell off parts of the World Cup without communicating to the rest of the federations.
"That is the biggest mistake he's made because obviously you're in a position where you're controlling things you're putting things forward.
"But I think this was a step too far. UEFA and CONCACAF have come out very clearly against Infantino and they hold about 90 votes out of the 211.
"That, as I understand it, is sufficient to call an extraordinary meeting of the federations to determine and take action.
"That is likely to take three months to allow Infantino time to prepare his defense and convince others."
Who are the first to withdraw support of Infantino?
With the next election for FIFA President coming in March 2027, talk is already turning to whether Infantino can survive this controversy.
Multiple nations have condemned the under-fire figure, but the Football Association of Wales (FAW) are the first to actually withdraw their support.
Infantino had received multiple letters of support ahead of the elections, but Wales have taken a huge stand, with others backed to follow in the coming days.
It remains to be seen who could replace Infantino moving forward, but PSG President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has been included in the list of potential names.
