Aston Villa starlet Jacob Ramsey has agreed a loan move to Doncaster Rovers, Football Insider understands.

A number of Football League clubs have expressed an interest in taking Ramsey, 18, on loan during this month's transfer window.

A Villa source has told Football Insider that but south-Yorkshire outfit Doncaster have won the race for his signature and the deal is set to be completed ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline.

Ramsey is highly regarded at Villa having through the ranks at the club and he has represented England at Under-18 and Under-19 level.

The teenager made his senior debut last season for Villa and he has appeared twice in the first team this season.

Both appearances were in the domestic cup competitions, one each as a substitute in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Ramsey won Villa's Academy Player of the Season last term and he has been a stand-out performer for the club's Under-23s in Premier League 2 this season with six goals and four assists in 12 games.

Villa have high hopes for Ramsey, who can play in central or attacking midfield roles, in the future and this will be his first loan move away from the club in search of regular first-team football.

Manager Dean Smith is happy to loan out Ramsey to the League One side so that he can gain some valuable first-team experience before returning to challenging for a first-team spot next season.
