Exclusive: Bournemouth plot swoop to sign newly-available Aston Villa star
Bournemouth have turned their attention to a late-window deal for Aston Villa defender Frederic Guilbert, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship club are in the market for a new right-back ahead of tomorrow's 5pm transfer cut-off.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bournemouth have been alerted to Guilbert's availability after he lost his place in the Villa team.
The Cherries are weighing up a loan move for the Frenchman, 25, rather than a permanent deal at this stage.
As revealed by Football Insider last week, Villa are ready to ship out senior stars Guilbert, Anwar El Ghazi and Henri Lansbury by tomorrow.
Lansbury, 29, is believed to be on more than £40,000-a-week while winger El Ghazi and right-back Guilbert, both 25, earn around the £20,000-a-week mark.
The trio have all dropped down the pecking order of the Midlands giants following another summer of big spending.
Guilbert has lost his place to Matty Cash, who has made a strong impression since signing from Nottingham Forest for a fee rising to a potential £14million.
Cash has started all three of Villa's Premier League matches, including the remarkable 7-2 win over Liverpool before the international break.
Guilbert failed to make the matchday squad for those games, all of which were won by Villa.
He has had to be content with two appearances in the EFL Cup, both of which were starts, to take his tally of matches for Villa to 31 in all competitions.
