Cardiff City defender Greg Cunningham may quit the club before the window shuts amid multiple club interest, Football Insider understands.

The left-back, 28, is a target for a number of Championship clubs ahead of the 8 August transfer cut-off after failing to secure a regular starting place in Neil Warnock's side.

A Cardiff source has told Football Insider that Warnock could be willing to let Cunningham move on in search of first-team football and the news has alerted a number of suitors in the Football League.

Cunningham has been unable to hold down a regular spot in the Cardiff side since his arrival from Preston North End last summer.

The Republic of Ireland international made just eight appearances in all competitions last season with Joe Bennett the first-choice left-back in Warnock's starting XI.

Cunningham boasts a wealth of experience having made over 290 appearances in his career to date in spells at Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, Preston and Cardiff.

He has two more years remaining on his contract with the Bluebirds.
