Leeds United are in advanced talks to sell defender Liam Kitching to Forest Green, Football Insider can reveal.

The Yorkshire giants are ready to offload a third centre-back in a matter of days after already selling Aapo Halme to Barnsley and agreeing the £5.5million sale of Pontus Jansson to Brentford.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Kitching is expected to join League Two outfit Forest Green on a permanent deal following negotiations in recent days.

Forest Green have made a formal move for the teenager after being impressed by his performances on loan at National League side Harrogate Town over the last 18 months.

The defender, who can play at centre-back or left-back, made 34 appearances, all of them starts, for the Yorkshire club last season in the fifth division of the English football system.

The potential move to Gloucestershire will end the academy product's time at Leeds, where he has failed to make the first-team breakthrough.

This comes after United sold Halme and Mallik Wilks to Championship rivals Barnsley this week in permanent transfers.
