Bobby Duncan has been omitted from the Liverpool Under-23s team for their clash with Southampton tonight amid talks over a potential move to Fiorentina, Football Insider understands.

The Serie A giants have submitted a loan-to-buy offer for highly rated Duncan as they look to lure him to Italy before the European transfer window closes next Monday.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that, as a result of the ongoing transfer speculation, Duncan has not travelled with the rest of the Under-23s squad to Southampton for the Premier League 2 clash tonight.

Duncan, who is the cousin of former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, joined the Reds from Manchester City last summer and helped the club win the FA Youth Cup last season.

The 18-year-old featured for the Liverpool senior squad in pre-season and has been training with the first team, but he is well down the pecking order to get into Jurgen Klopp's star-studded first-team.

Duncan has also been the subject of interest from Danish side FC Nordsjælland this summer with Liverpool rejecting their loan offer for the teenager.

The rising star has outstanding track record in youth football and became the first England player to score a hat-trick against Brazil at any level two summers ago when he ran amok in an England Under-16 international.
