Jose Mourinho will look to sign Tottenham players in the centre-back, right-back and forward positions in the next two windows.

That is according to ex-Spurs and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about what to expect in terms of recruitment from the new manager.

Mourinho has taken over at Tottenham with the team 14th in the Premier League following a dismal start to the campaign under Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked on Tuesday.

Robinson is convinced that the Portugese will hold transfer talks with contract rebels Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, and will regard three areas of the team as weak links.

Asked by Football Insider about Mourinho's transfer plans, Robinson said: "I think you look at the centre-backs, he’ll have those conversations with Vertonghen and Alderweireld - you can't have two centre-backs that have got five or six months left on their contracts and rely on them both until the end of the season.

"If they don't sign a contract that's an area that he probably will look at, they’ve got Davinson Sanchez as well, I think you may see him bring in one (centre-back).

"The areas that they’ll look at is right-back, centre-half and maybe somebody you can take a bit of the load off Harry Kane. It all depends on what budget that he's got."

Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen all have contracts that expire at the end of the season.

They are among a cabal of senior players whose futures at Tottenham are up in the air.
