Exclusive: Moyes told not to sell 'Special' West Ham player this summer

Frank McAvennie has urged West Ham not to sell Manuel Lanzini this summer as David Moyes look to raise much-needed transfer funds. 

The Irons and Celtic legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted that he would keep the 27-year-old if Felipe Anderson is to be sold as he "can find that pass others can't".

Lanzini still has three years remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium having signing a contract extension last August.

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Anderson has flown to Rome with his representatives to hold discussions with Lazio chiefs over a potential return to the club.

Injury hampered Lanzini last season as he failed to score in any of his 24 appearances for the Hammers.

When asked by Football Insider if he would encourage Moyes to sell the Argentina international with limited transfer funds at the London Stadium,

"It will be interesting because Lanzini has had a few injuries but I really like him.

"He is a player that can do special things and find that pass that others can't at times.

"I would never suggest playing Lanzini and Anderson in the same team but if Anderson is to go then I would keep Lanzini. I would rather David Moyes kept him."

Lanzini's place looks to be under threat with Moyes in the hunt for a goalscoring playmaker in this transfer window.

QPR's Eberechi Eze and Said Benrahma, who missed out on promotion with Brentford last night, are two names under consideration, Football Insider revealed.
