Northampton Town are planning an approach for Bromley manager Andy Woodman, sources have told Football Insider.

The Cobblers are working hard to fill their managerial vacancy following the departure of Jon Brady last week.

Brady resigned with the club 21st in the League One table but they have since moved up to 17th with Monday's (9 December) win over Wigan Athletic.

Woodman has been placed on the shortlist at Sixfields after his impressive tenure at Bromley, which began in March 2021.

He led the club to promotion from the National League to League Two for the first time ever last term, securing a playoff victory against Solihull Moors.

Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas is believed to be a big admirer of the 53-year-old.

Woodman wanted by Northampton after Brady exit

Ex-goalkeeper Woodman, who previously turned down the chance to become Gillingham's new boss in 2022, has coached at the likes of Arsenal and West Ham.

He has taken charge of 160 matches at Bromley, winning 77 and drawing 57.

The 53-year-old's Bromley side sit 14th in the fourth tier this term and are nine points clear of the drop zone.

Ian Sampson has been put in interim charge of the Cobblers and as things stand, will be in place for the trip to Rotherham on Saturday (14 December).
