'Where's The Money Coming From At Rangers?' - Exclusive: Pundit on big Ibrox development

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Rangers would have no choice but to let Borna Barisic go if a suitable bid materialises in January.

That is according to former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the prospect of the 28-year-old swapping Ibrox for the London Stadium.

Barisic has been one of Rangers top performers this season, with only three players clocking up more minutes than the Croatian (1329). [Wyscout]

Asked if Rangers could afford to let Barisic leave in the January window, McAvennie told Football Insider, "I wouldn't think so.

"He's one of the better players, I wouldn't imagine they'd want to let him go. I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't know where the money's coming from at Rangers so if there's a decent offer... everybody's got a price."

"No disrespect, I don't want to upset Rangers supporters, but if somebody comes in for Barisic, if West Ham offer the right amount of money, then he's gone. Simple as that.

"There's nothing Steven Gerrard or anybody else can do about it."

Barisic is into his third season at Ibrox following a £2.2million move from Osijek in August 2018.

He is one of a number of possible options for the Hammers, with Barcelona's Junior Firpo also touted.
