'He can run all day' - Exclusive: Pundit wowed by Spurs attacker with amazing work ethic

Alan Hutton has lauded winger Steven Bergwijn for the work rate he has put in at Tottenham in recent weeks.

The former Spurs and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has insisted the 23-year-old is "willing to do the graft" despite being one of Jose Mourinho's attacking options.

The Dutch winger has started Spurs' last two Premier League games, while he featured for 25 minutes from the bench in Thursday's 3-3 draw with LASK in the Europa League.

Despite his attacking contributions, Hutton has singled out Bergwijn's willingness to track back and suggested it made him a perfect player for Mourinho.

Hutton told Football Insider: "He works very hard, he gives you something going forward but he's willing to do the graft and get back into position.

"I think we all know what Mourinho likes to play like over the previous years, he likes to be defensively sound and he wants players to be able to play from a shape and then break quickly.

"He fits that bill, he can run all day so he'll be happy with his performances and moving forward, obviously he's had to deal with rotation and things but Bergwijn will be happy he's getting on the pitch at the moment." 

Bergwijn has played 13 times, with eight starts to his name, and chipped in with three assists for Spurs this season.

He has the likes of Lucas Moura, Gareth Bale, Heung-min Son and Erik Lamela for competition in the wide areas.
