RB Leipzig have approached Aston Villa about signing youngster Jaden Philogene-Bidace next month, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The 18-year-old sensation has just six months left on his contract at Villa Park and could be set to leave the club in 2021.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Leipzig have been alerted to the opportunity to sign a big talent on the cheap in January and have let Villa know their interest in Philogene-Bidace.

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith

The German club keep a keen eye on British talent with Ademola Lookman, Ethan Ampadu and Oliver Burke all lured to the Red Bull Arena in recent years.

Philogene-Bidace is one of a number of exciting talents emerging from Aston Villa's academy this season.

The winger joined up with the first team in pre-season and appeared in a number of friendlies for Dean Smith's side.

However, he has begun the 2020/21 campaign with the club's Under-23s, his eight appearances in Premier League 2 yielding an impressive four goals and two assists.

The teenager has also made great strides with England's youth set up this season, scoring a hat-trick on his debut for the Under-19s in a behind closed door friendly at St. George's Park last month.

If Leipzig sign Philogene-Bidace on a pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer, they will have to pay a compensation fee to Villa, determined by the Professional Football Compensation Committee.

The attacker is below the age of 24, so even if he moves at the end of his current contract potential suitors will have to pay Villa a development fee.
