Paul Robinson has hailed Tanguy Ndombele as a Tottenham player capable of taking the Premier League by storm.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Spurs goalkeeper claimed there is a huge amount to come from the club-record signing.

Robinson explained how the France international, 22, was an "astute signing" who will "turn into a top, top player" under Mauricio Pochettino.

Ndombele was the club's headline summer recruit after joining from Lyon for £55million rising to a potential £64million.

"It was a big move for him," Robinson told Football Insider. "I think he's fitted in well, his ability to play anywhere across the middle is a huge asset, I like him as a player.

"He's a youngster still and I think he will develop quickly, he will turn into a top, top player under Pochettino and I think it was an astute signing."

Ndombele was surprisingly omitted from the Tottenham side that were torn to shreds by Liverpool in last Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Anfield.

The central midfielder had taken his Spurs' assist tally to an impressive three in midweek when laying on two goals in the 4-0 Champions League hammering of Red Star Belgrade.

But he was then left out of the XI, before making a big impact when he was brought off the bench against Liverpool after 72 minutes.

Ndombele has made 11 appearances for Tottenham, which have included eight starts, and he has scored against Aston Villa and Southampton.
