'He'd drive me mad' - Exclusive: Robinson blasts talented Newcastle player who 'Forgets' duties

Paul Robinson vented his frustration with Newcastle United attacker Allan Saint-Maximin following the Magpies' 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O'Leary, the ex-Tottenham and Blackburn goalkeeper claimed Saint-Maximin would drive him mad if he was in his team.

The 22-year-old Magpies winger has played 10 times for Steve Bruce's side this season and has managed to rack up one assist in the process.

Robinson revealed that he thought Saint-Maximin was a talented player but lets himself down with his decision-making and admitted the winger sometimes forgets his defensive duties.

When asked if Saint-Maximin frustrates him or amazes him, Robinson told Football Insider: "He'd drive me mad if he was in my team, I'd be on his case constantly because he's so quick, he's got such electrifying pace and he's got such talent as well.

"But he just needs a little more composure with his decision-making, his final ball, as he has so much talent but his decision-making in the final third lets him down.

"And I do think he forgets his defensive duties sometimes when he's playing on the left-side of that midfield I think he has to be reminded of his role to trackback."

Saint-Maximin arrived at St James Park in the summer after joining the Magpies from French club OGC Nice.

The winger signed a six-year deal upon joining and Bruce claimed Saint-Maximin's had all the attributes you'd want from an attacking player shortly after his arrival.
