Salford City striker Emmanuel Dieseruvwe has agreed a deal to join Oldham Athletic on loan until the end of the season, Football Insider understands.

It is understood the Ammies are willing to let the striker leave following the recent arrival of striker Tom Elliott from Millwall, Graham Alexander's men hunting further attacking reinforcements before the January window closes

A source at Salford has told Football Insider that the striker has agreed a move to join north west and League Two rivals Oldham Athletic on a temporary basis until the end of the season, with first-team opportunities likely to be limited at Moor Lane.

The 24-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Salford this season, scoring three goals, but only 10 of his outings have come among the starting XI in League Two.

The 6ft 5in hit-man has a place in the Salford history books after scoring the club's first ever goals in the Football League with a brace in the win over Stevenage on the opening day of the League Two season.

Oldham have moved quickly to offer the centre-forward a move to Boundary Park in search of regular first-team football in the second half of the season.

Dieseruvwe started his career at Sheffield Wednesday, but never made a first-team appearance during his time at Hillsborough, and has spent time in League One, League Two and the National League since leaving.
