West Brom and Blackburn Rovers are racing to sign Kilmarnock striker Bobby Wales, sources have told Football Insider.

Wales, 19, is out of contract at Rugby Park this summer and a number of top Championship clubs have been keeping a close eye on his situation.

The Scotland Under-19 international has impressed for Kilmarnock this season with five goals and three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

West Brom and Blackburn are planning to improve their squads this summer amid outside hopes of promotion to the Premier League.

The two clubs are separated by just five points as they enter the closing stages of the season, and are battling for a spot in the playoff places.

On top of their plans to strengthen in the summer, they are also looking at potential long-term options to develop and potentially move on for a significant profit.

West Brom and Blackburn eye Bobby Wales deal

West Brom's interest in Wales comes amid speculation about the long-term future of Tom Fellows, who was close to leaving The Hawthorns in January.

Football Insider revealed on 21 March that Everton are well-placed to sign Fellows when the window opens, and David Moyes is the driving force behind the move.

Should the 21-year-old leave Albion this summer, the money is likely to be reinvested in strengthening the squad, with a new striker high on their list of targets.

Blackburn, meanwhile, are seeking a long-term option to fill their centre-forward role after struggling for a consistent source of goals this term.

Wales has emerged as a target for both clubs after a breakthrough season in Scotland, and they believe he has the potential to become a regular first-team star.

Baggies eye future profit as financial concerns continue

West Brom have struggled financially in recent years, and the signing of Wales could represent a significant profit in the future if they can secure his signature.

The club's financial losses in recent times have left many concerned as the Baggies look to win promotion back to the Premier League, having posted a loss of £33.9million for the period ending 2024.

This comes after Shilen Patel sent a message to Albion fans after a year since his takeover of the club was confirmed, insisting he is excited for the future.
