Fabinho deserves extended ban as Liverpool controversy analysed by expert - '100 per cent'
Paul Robinson is adamant Liverpool midfielder Fabinho should have been sent off against Tottenham on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one was "surprised" to see the 28-year-old remain on the pitch after "numerous infringements" and an "elbow" on Son Heung-min.
Jurgen Klopp's side lost ground in the title race with a 1-1 draw with Tottenham at Anfield.
Fabinho made four fouls during the match and received a yellow card after 80 minutes for a challenge on Son Heung-min. [SofaScore]
However, the centre-midfielder was perhaps fortunate to escape further punishment after his arm made contact with the face of the South Korea international.
When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs if Fabinho should have received a straight red and a suspension, Robinson said: "100 per cent.
"I was surprised he stay on the pitch. He was a serial offender over the 90 minutes. On numerous occasions he made fouls and infringements that should have led to him being sent off. There was an accumulation.
"When you factor in the elbow in as well, he should have gone. I cannot dress it up any other way, he should have been sent off."
Speaking to Football Insider (9 May), ex-Premier League referee Keith Hackett insisted Fabinho should have received red at Anfield.
He said: “That’s a red card offence. Clearly that’s a forearm smash. That’s a red card and he should have gone."
