Liverpool will be "worried" by Barcelona and Real Madrid's interest in Fulham attacker Fabio Carvalho, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 19-year-old could be tempted by a move to Spain if one of the La Liga giants offers him a contract.

According to Marca (5 February), Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in signing Carvalho, who has entered the final six months of his contract at Craven Cottage.

Potential suitors won't be able to pick the teenager up from free though as they will have to pay a compensation fee for development costs.

The Reds narrowly missed out on an £8million deal for the attacking midfielder on deadline day.

When asked by Football Insider's Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the race to sign Carvalho, Robinson said:

"It is always a worry when Barcelona and Real Madrid are involved. Yes, they are not the two superpowers they used to be but the history and the weight of the clubs remain. Players want to play for them.

"Financially, there is a lot more parity between them and teams in the Premier League. That stands Liverpool in good stead.

"But there will always be that worry that a player will favour a move to one of the big Spanish clubs."
