Out-of-favour forward perfect for Pochettino: Ferdinand's Tottenham must-have trio rated
COMMENT
Former Manchester United and England star Rio Ferdinand has said that Tottenham are in need of a winger in order to counter the weakness posed by the form of striker Harry Kane. However the ex-centre back did not say that the England star was a problem up front, but rather the exact opposite.
. To try and cover for this, Ferdinand says that the club should be looking to snap up a new wide man in January, to offer an additional creative force up front which they currently lack. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino does not have many natural wide options at his disposal, having seen Georges-Kevin N'Koudou depart on loan to Burnley earlier this month, but the former Manchester United man has offered a trio of suggestions that the manager must be looking at buying. Here,
Football Insider
rates each of the three international wingers, including one out of favour forward who could be the perfect addition to the current Spurs squad.

Riyad Mahrez - Leicester City
The first of those Ferdinand suggests is Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez, with the Algerian having already been linked with a move to north London in the past. A right winger by nature, the 26-year-old, 35-cap international has the versatility to operate in a central role, which would help cover the likes of current first choice starters Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. A regular for the Foxes this season with an appearance in each of their 23 top flight outings, he is a proven Premier League and international talent and would no doubt be keen on a move back up to the top of the table. Still, questions should be asked whether he offers enough different to the current options at the club, and if he can be the out-and-out winger needed to make a difference.

Julian Draxler - Paris Saint Germain
German international Draxler has found himself in and out of the PSG side this season, with 15 starts from 25 appearances under his belt for the French giants, which have garnered three goals and five assists. A versatile left winger with 40 caps under his belt at the age of 24, he has proven himself for both club and country and would certainly offer something different for Pochettino as a natural wide man. He has been competing for a first team place with superstar Neymar this season, which is no easy task, but would he be given any more of a chance of first team action at Spurs? His ability to play anywhere from a central midfield role to either flank mean that he would be able to compete for a variety of roles were he to join, and with a Champions League campaign to come, Pochettino would not complain about the option of rotation.

Yannick Carrasco - Atletico Madrid
With 22 caps for Belgium under his belt, Carrasco would seem like an ideal option for several sides competing at the very top of their respective leagues. However, the 24-year-old wide man has not been given much of a chance at Atletico Madrid this season, with just 12 starts across all competitions. With the versatility to appear on either wing, he is a speed machine and would be a real threat to back lines were he to arrive in the Premier League. He is much more of a natural winger than those currently with the north London club and although Pochettino has not made use of the role much this season, Carrasco would be the perfect signing for the manager to be given another option.
