Georginio Rutter has received “big” interest from clubs pondering a move to sign him following Leeds United’s play-off final defeat, sources have told Football Insider

Leeds could have to fend off bids for Rutter, 21, after he was one of the standout performers for Daniel Farke’s side across the season before they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton at Wembley.

Elland Road chiefs hold a reasonable position to demand a hefty fee for Rutter as he’s under contract until 2028 following his £35.5million move from Hoffenheim in January 2023.

Leeds United could face battle to keep Georginio Rutter

The Frenchman enjoyed a strong season at Leeds after becoming one of the fans’ favourites following his eight goals and 18 assists in 51 appearances.

The forward started in all but two Championship games across the campaign as Farke’s side faltered at the final hurdle.

Doubts have emerged over Rutter’s future at Elland Road after Football Insider revealed earlier this month Leeds could be forced to sell some of their star players as £73.6million of their outstanding transfer fees are due to be paid by the end of June

Paraag Marathe has admitted sales may be necessary as the club look to comply with the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), but he refused to be drawn on who could be sold.

But the Whites chairman suggested he’s looking forward to working with Farke again next season after Football Insider first revealed on 28 May the 49ers-led board are fully behind the German despite their promotion failure
