Gerrard ready to 'get rid' of Aston Villa stars after Bodymoor Heath reveal - Agbonlahor

Steven Gerrard may have already decided which Aston Villa players he wants to sell, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa's record Premier League goalscorer insisted Gerrard is a "no-nonsense" manager who will want players who buy into his methods.

The Villa boss has enjoyed a fine start to life in the Midlands with three wins out of his opening four Premier League games in charge.

After his side's latest triumph over Leicester City (5 December) he told Sky Sports, via Birmingham Live, that some players are "not committing properly" on the training ground as they are "not sure".

"If I was a player now, knowing Gerrard as a player and as a manager at Rangers, I'd be understanding what he wants quickly," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"He looks like a no-nonsense manager, he was a no-nonsense player. Players who aren't on board, he will get rid of.

"He's got the full backing of the board so players who are not on board with what he wants, he will look to sell and bring in players that are on board.

"I understand what he's saying and he will do what is best for the team."

Football Insider revealed last month (26 November) Gerrard is lining up two big-money signings ahead of the January transfer window.

The 41-year-old wants to sure up the spine of his side so his priority is a new centre-back and defensive midfielder.

Aston Villa have only kept one clean sheet under Gerrard - the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in his first game in charge.
