Chelsea came back to secure a top-eight finish in the Champions League’s league table on Wednesday as they beat Napoli 3-2.

Liam Rosenior continued his good start at Chelsea with an important victory over the Italian champions in Naples.

Despite going 2-1 down, the Blues managed to fight back to win the tie, with Joao Pedro netting twice in the second half.

The result ensures Chelsea goes straight into the round of 16, avoiding the extra two games in the playoff phase.

However, while the win was a memorable one, fans were far from pleased with Malo Gusto’s display, who struggled at right-back.

Chelsea fans left unimpressed with Malo Gusto vs Napoli

Gusto has had a mixed season at Chelsea so far. The right-back has been a regular throughout the season.

On Wednesday, he was given the nod by Rosenior to start. However, this did not go to plan.

The defender struggled throughout as Napoli frustrated the London side.

As a result, he was hauled off just before the hour mark after failing to keep the Naples outfit at bay,

Assessing his performance on X, many fans were furious with Gusto’s display, believing that he was “useless” against the Italian champions.

How poor was Gusto vs Napoli?

Gusto certainly did not have his best game against Napoli.

According to Fotmob on 28 January, he only made one tackle and one interception while also failing to make a block.

While he did also create a chance, it was clear that he was ineffective both defensively and offensively against Napoli, and Rosenior was right to take him off.

However, it remains to be seen how this will affect the starting XI going forward, with players such as Trevoh Chalobah having great games upon coming off the bench.

Rosenior no doubt has some tough decisions to make going forward, but after Wednesday’s victory, it is clear that he is having a positive start to life at the London club.
