Hiddink admits Terry is doubtful for PSG clash

John Terry will undergo scans on a suspected hamstring injury on Sunday as Chelsea face a defensive crisis ahead of their Champions League showdown against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Guus Hiddink’s team thrashed Newcastle 5-1 on Saturday evening as they extended their unbeaten run under the interim manager to 12 matches.

But John Terry gave Hiddink an injury scare when he limped out of the clash at Stamford Bridge in the first half after a collision with Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Terry appeared to hurt himself when landing after challenging with Mitrovic in the air and, although he played on for a short while, the veteran defender was then substituted and headed straight down the tunnel for treatment from the physio.

Speaking at his media briefing afterwards, Hiddink said Terry will be scanned on Sunday amid fears he has suffered a small injury to his hamstring.

Doubts over Terry's availability is a major headache for Chelsea ahead of their last-16 Champions League trip

to PSG on Tuesday night.

Kurt Zouma has already been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his cruciate ligament against Manchester United.

Against Newcastle, Terry was replaced by Baba Rahman, who slotted in at left-back, with Cesar Azpilicueta shifting across to right-back and Branislav Ivanovic becoming Gary Cahill’s new partner.

A Pedro double and goals from Diego Costa, Willian and Bertrand Traore gave Chelsea their most comprehensive Premier League victory of the season.
