Conor Hourihane is "done" at Aston Villa after completing his loan move to Sheffield United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa's record Premier League goalscorer claimed the move "suits" his ex-teammate who will be desperate to play regular football.

The Republic of Ireland international took to Instagram yesterday to say his goodbyes to the club he spent four-and-a-half years at.

Football Insider first revealed yesterday (31 August) the midfielder had passed a medical with the Blades before the dealwas confirmed later that day.

With just one year left on his Villa contract, it is unlikely will not play for the club again.

His last game in claret and blue came in the 6-0 win over Barrow in the Carabao Cup last month when he captained the side.

"That's him done now, as well," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"I don't think he's going to go back to Aston Villa. He's posted on Instagram that he's left for good.

"Conor Hourihane will have had an honest conversation with the manager and said 'Am I going to play this season?' And the manager has probably said 'No'. Conor has thought he wants to play football games, Conor wants to do that.

"He's not a player that can come on in games, he will want to start games. He won't want to just sit around and not play.

"It suits Conor and I'm happy for him to go to Sheffield United, get them winning games and hopefully get them promoted."

Hourihane will leave Aston Villa with 29 goals and 23 assists in 151 appearances across all competitions.

The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Swansea City who were defeated in the Championship play-off final.
