Huddersfield Town have leapfrogged Leeds United to climb into pole position to seal the signing of Forest Green winger Reece Brown, Football Insider understands.

The Terriers, who are preparing for life back in the Championship next season, are determined to win the race for the attacker after his outstanding 2018-19 campaign.

Brown is out of contract at Forest Green this summer and a Huddersfield has told Football Insider the club are in advanced talks with Forest Green over a compensation deal for the player to avoid going to a tribunal.

Brown has also attracted strong interest from the likes of Leeds and Bristol City this summer after impressing in League Two last season, and it would be a major blow to miss out on him.

The 23-year-old scored 11 goals and provided 15 assists for Forest Green to help them reach the League Two play-offs only to lose to Tranmere in the semi-finals.

Huddersfield are keen to add to their attacking options ahead of next season after struggling for goals last term and Brown is among their top targets.

His versatility makes him a potential big asset to the Yorkshire outfit as he is capable of playing on either wing or as a support striker.
