Hutton makes 'incredible' Leeds claim as 'special' plan revealed via Sky
Alan Hutton has been blown away as Leeds United plan to expand Elland Road's capacity to 55,000.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the atmosphere would be incredible to experience.
As revealed via Sky Sports, Leeds have withdrawn plans to build a new training ground to expand Elland Road by 16,000 seats.
Leeds had originally agreed plans with Leeds City Council to increase the capacity to 50,000.
Hutton, who played twice at Elland Road during his career, heralded the Elland Road faithful for their "special" support.
He admitted he would love to visit after the expansion and experience a capacity crowd on matchday.
Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: "That'd be special. That's the only thing I can say, that'd be special.
"It's a special stadium anyway, I think the fans are absolutely brilliant. They sing from minute one to 95. They always back their team and to pack even more fans in there, I think will be incredible.
"It'll be incredible to go and see. It's an iconic stadium for me, growing up with the likes of Woodgate, Robbie Keane, all those guys that were there.
"The fans have always backed them all the way. To make it even bigger with even more fans in there, it'd be some experience to play there."
Leeds fans have not been able to attend a game since the 2-0 win over Huddersfield in March 2020.
The Whites' record attendance was 57,896 for an FA Cup replay against Sunderland in 1967.
