Alfredo Morelos is set to play at Celtic Park for the final time as a Rangers player in Sunday's SPL showdown, Football Insider understands.

As first revealed by Football Insider, Morelos signed a new contract worth £35,000-a-week earlier this month that runs until the summer of 2023.

But a source close to the player has told Football Insider that was merely to reward Morelos for his outstanding form and to protect the value of the club's prize asset ahead of the summer window.

There is an acceptance behind the scenes at Rangers that Morelos is gearing up for a mega-money move to one of Europe's elite leagues.

The player's camp are aware of growing interest in him from leading clubs, including in the Premier League, and believe the timing will be right this summer for a new challenge after two seasons at Ibrox.

Morelos will likely play one more Old Firm after Sunday before he exits, as Rangers have still to host Celtic for a second time at Ibrox, following the December 1-0 win.

Morelos tops the Scottish scoring charts with 29 goals in all competitions this season and is the favourite to win the player of the year award despite his disciplinary issues.
