The prospect of ex-Tottenham star Christian Eriksen making a sensational return to the club in January is "ridiculous", according to Paul Robinson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former White Hart Lane number one "cannot understand" why the 28-year-old would want to head back to north London after he "created his own exit" to Inter Milan 10 months ago.

Eriksen left Spurs for Inter Milan in January 2020, the attacking midfielder deemed to have manufactured his exit by refusing to sign a new contract at the club.

However, he has so far failed to establish himself in Italy, his 33 appearances for Antonio Conte's side yielding just four goals and three assists.

When asked by Football Insider if he would welcome the return of the Danish playmaker, Robinson said: “I just cannot see how it could work given the way that he left Spurs.

"His performances during his last six months at the club were not good enough. He was out of the team and then when he came in he was nowhere near the level we knew he could play at.

"His head had been turned. It was clear that he wanted a move and he created his own exit.

"I cannot understand why he would want to go back to a club that he could not wait to leave 12 months ago. It seems ridiculous.

"I find that very strange, I cannot see it happening, no way, and I do not know how it would go down in all honesty.”
