Ipswich supporters have slammed a star player despite the Tractor Boys being able to end their long winless streak against rivals Norwich City.

First half goals from Cedric Kipre and Jaden Philogene, either side of a Oscar Schwartau strike for the visitors, and a Jack Clarke effort in the second period gave Ipswich a first win over the Canaries since 2009.

Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League last season, and have made a mixed start to life back in the Championship, but this win puts them within two points of the play-offs.

Kieran McKenna's side have also played a game fewer than their Championship rivals after Ipswich's fixture at Blackburn was postponed and ordered to be replayed.

Dara O'Shea's performance criticised vs Norwich

Ipswich fans were not impressed by defender Dara O'Shea for his performance against Norwich, with the 26-year-old's passing the main source of frustration.

One fan posted: "Can't believe we let [Luke] Woolfenden go for O'Shea. Can't pass, Can't head it, can't tackle, Can't block."

"On a day when you want your captain leading by example....O'Shea is having a shocking start!," another fan posted.

Whilst another fan said: "O'Shea shouldn't be our captain."

Another fan posted on social media: "O’Shea isn’t confident enough to make that pass. Wants to go wide to Furlong every time."

"O'shea really is a donkey," one fan called the Ireland international, before commenting, "O'shea cannot pass."

O'Shea slammed by former Ipswich captain

As per BBC Sport [5 October], former Ipswich and England captain Mick Mills said O'Shea was part of "suicidal football", the Tractor Boys were playing.

"Ipswich are playing suicidal football at the back. It's not only Dara O'Shea but it's the midfield as well, Mills said in the first half.

"I just can't help but believe, with the way we've started, we've made Norwich feel comfortable."

Norwich came into the fixture four without a win and low on confidence, but Ipswich eventually found the goals to seal a historic win over their fierce rivals.
