'It's a great move' - Exclusive: Robinson reacts to big Tottenham transfer development

Paul Robinson claimed that another season at Tottenham would have stunted Troy Parrott's growth after it was confirmed that he would join Millwall on loan.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, said that the 18-year-old would have had a conversation with Jose Mourinho and concluded that a season of first team football was best for his development.

The club confirmed on Saturday that the teenage striker would spend the 2020/21 season at The Den after Football Insider had exclusively revealed on Thursday that a deal had been agreed.

Parrott, who has already been capped by the Republic of Ireland, has enjoyed great scored 11 goals in just seven appearances for Spurs' youth teams last term.

However, he made just four senior appearances, three of which where from the bench with his one start coming against Colchester in the EFL Cup.

When asked by Football Insider if Parrott had made the right choice for his development, Robinson said: "It will be a really good loan for him because he was not going to get any game time at Spurs. He has been in and around the squad enough this season, he knows what it is about and another season like that would have hampered his development as a player.

"He has spoke to Mourinho and decided that for his personal development, the best thing to do is to go out and play football.

"The competitiveness, the toughness of the Championship will stand him in good stead.

"He is a top player but he is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He is too good for the Under-23s, that will not develop him, and he is on the fringes of the first team. It is a great move for him."
