Jack Harrison sends message to Carlos Alcaraz amid Everton transfer uncertainty

Jack Harrison could still re-join Carlos Alcaraz at Everton next season as a crucial date in the football calendar approaches.

Everton are yet to truly make their mark in the summer transfer window after a strong end to last season, which saw David Moyes lead his resurgent Toffees side to a 13th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Moyes' squad next season is expected to be unrecognisable as Everton move in to their new home at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with four first-team players already released including Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Further departures are expected to follow on 30 June despite Seamus Coleman signing a new one-year deal on Merseyside, and it's also unclear if any more of last season's five loanees will return to Everton.

Alcaraz shares message with 'big brother' Harrison

Alcaraz undoubtedly made the biggest impact of Everton's loanees with winning goals against Crystal Palace and Newcastle after a mid-season move from Flamengo, and his stay has been made permanent.

Everton paid £15million to sign Alcaraz just days after announcing that Harrison, Armando Broja, Jesper Lindstrom and Orel Mangala would all return to their parent clubs this summer, likely at Moyes' behest.

Harrison had spent the last two seasons on loan at Goodison Park and was admired by Sean Dyche, but his replacement in the Everton dugout had other ideas and Harrison's long-term future is now uncertain.

The 28-year-old has remained close to Everton's newest signing and posed for a photo with Alcaraz in a restaurant, before sharing the message of "Hermanito" – or "little brother" – on his Instagram story (28 June).

Although Harrison will return to Leeds United ahead of pre-season training at Thorp Arch early next month, Everton could still return for their former loanee once football's financial calendar resets on 1 July.

That date marks a line in the sand for the Toffees' new era and an official end to the club's association with Farhad Moshiri, with The Friedkin Group set to spend big on rebuilding Moyes' threadbare squad.

Unlike Lindstrom and Broja, Everton didn't have an option included to make Harrison's loan permanent, but with Leeds happy to sell him and Moyes in need of reinforcements out wide, don't discount the 28-year-old appearing in blue once again.
