James Milner has begun house hunting in Brighton after verbally agreeing a move from Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.

A deal is now in place for the 37-year-old to join Roberto De Zerbi's side on a free transfer when his Anfield contract expires next month.

Sources told Football Insider last week (5 May) that Milner has verbally agreed to join Brighton on a one-year contract.

It is believed the midfield veteran is now looking to move down to the south coast from his current Merseyside base.

Milner has been at Liverpool since joining on a free transfer from Man City in 2015.

He has notched 26 goals in 329 appearances for the Merseysiders and has lifted the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League with the club.

Despite his advancing years, Milner has remained an important squad option for Jurgen Klopp - making 39 appearances across all competitions this term.

As quoted by the BBC (5 May), Klopp insisted he would love to work with the former England international "even longer".

However, sources have told Football Insider (7 May) that ex-Reds midfielder Adam Lallana played a pivotal role in convincing Milner to leave for Brighton this summer.

This site also revealed on Monday (9 May) that Everton made a late move to try and sign Milner but saw their offer rejected by the veteran.

Liverpool

The former Leeds and Aston Villa star needs to make 37 more appearances to pass Gareth Barry's record for the most Premier League games.

Liverpool are planning a radical overhaul of their midfield this summer, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita also out of contract next month.
