Arsenal transfer target Jobe Bellingham has admitted "it's a pleasure" to play at the Stadium of Light after Sunderland's 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday (January 1).

According to BBC journalist Con Harrison, Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old multiple times this season with a view to make a move in the summer transfer window.

It's understood Mikel Arteta's side believe Bellingham's ball-carrying ability to be a key attribute and he could even exceed his brother Jude's output.

Bellingham played the full 90 minutes as Sunderland, who have the youngest side in the Championship, secured a vital three points against title rivals Sheffield United.

Sunderland have fallen off the pace somewhat after their impressive start to the campaign, sitting in fourth with 47 points from their 25 games, five off league leaders Leeds United.

The young midfielder has been key for Sunderland so far this season, starting all 22 of his games across all competitions, scoring four goals, and providing three assists in his 1948 minutes of action.

Bellingham seems unphased by the recent transfer rumours, taking to Instagram to celebrate the win over Sheffield United, saying: "Crucial win, massive team effort. Nothing but a pleasure to play here, in front of the best."

Bellingham and Sunderland will be hoping to continue their promotion charge with a win over strugglers Portsmouth on Sunday (January 5).

Arsenal travel to Brighton for their second game of the new year on Saturday (January 4) as they seek to gain further ground on league leaders Liverpool.
