Joelinton wants to stay in the Premier League if he can't agree an extension to his Newcastle United contract, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Magpies will sell the Brazilian this summer if they can't agree on a new deal amid ongoing discussions.

Joelinton's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, with manager Eddie Howe admitting he could have played his last game for Newcastle after suffering a season-ending injury.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the 27-year-old believes his playing style is ideally suited to the English top flight and his versatility, attitude and power are seen as big strengths by Premier League clubs.

Newcastle ace Joelinton wants to stay in the Premier League

The midfielder last played for the Magpies in their 3-0 FA Cup victory against arch-rivals Sunderland on 6 January.

The club confirmed that he has successfully undergone surgery for a thigh injury and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Before his devastating injury setback, he had bagged three goals and provided four assists across 23 appearances in all competitions, including a match-winning assist against Arsenal in early November.

Howe successfully converted Joelinton into a quality midfielder after initially being played as a striker in his opening season at St James' Park.

Across 180 appearances since his reported £40million move from Hoffenheim in 2019, he has scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists.

Newcastle

Newcastle sit eighth in the Premier League table after their 3-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday (2 March).

They are next set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night (11 February).
