Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is facing a dilemma as Liverpool seek to attract new players by qualifying for the Champions League.

A win against West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday could secure a top four spot if other results go Liverpool’s way.

However Klopp, 49, thinks that it would be hard to justify replacing the players that have played so well this season and has hinted that it is a struggle to motivate them to help him in the transfer market.

When asked about his transfer plans, the German boss was quoted by Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce on his personal Twitter account as saying: “Getting into the Champions League has an influence (on transfer plans). Should I say to boys the better you play, the better the players will be to take your places?”

A number of high-profile names have already been linked with moves to Anfield but the struggle for Klopp will be to assure members of his squad that their places are not at risk, despite it being obvious that reinforcements are needed for next season.

Manchester United and Arsenal are the two clubs that pose a threat to Liverpool’s top four status as Manchester City can overtake the Merseyside club into third with their game in hand.

United travel to Tottenham on Sunday while the Gunners go to Stoke and defeats for them means a win for Liverpool will see them qualify for the Champions League.
