Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Kai Havertz "looks lost" at Arsenal and is set to be dropped if his performances continue.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Mikel Arteta "has a lot to answer for" if the 24-year-old's arrival doesn't work out.

Havertz has started each of Arsenal's three Premier League games this season in central midfield role, playing alongside Martin Odegaard.

Arsenal

The Germany international cost a reported £65million when he joined the Gunners from Chelsea earlier this summer.

Havertz signed a contract running until June 2028.

He managed only nine goals in 47 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season.

His best return in the Premier League came in the 2021-22 campaign when he managed eight league goals and four assists.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I just look at Havertz and I can’t work out what his best attribute is.

“He looks lost as to what his actual position is.

“At least when you had Xhaka in there, you had someone who could time his runs, make a tackle, and pick out a player with a pass.

“With Havertz, there’s nothing. No attacking threat, no defensive responsibility.

“When this signing was first rumoured, everyone thought it was a joke.

Arsenal

“If this signing doesn’t work out, then Arteta’s got a lot to answer for. If he wasn’t good enough for Chelsea, why is he good enough for Arsenal?

“I just don’t think he fits the system, or the best 11 - and sooner or later, you have to drop him.”
