Kalvin Phillips is desperate to re-sign for Leeds United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The England international finds himself at a career crossroads after enduring a terrible loan spell with West Ham, who he joined in January after failing to break into Pep Guardiola's team at Manchester City.

Football Insider revealed on 24 February that Leeds would be interested in bringing the 31-cap international back to Elland Road and the player is keen to push a deal through.

A well-placed source also told Football Insider that West Ham coaches are convinced that “all Phillips is interested in is playing for Leeds".

Kalvin Phillips keen to reunite with Leeds after failed West Ham loan move

Phillips departed home-town club Leeds for Manchester City in July 2022 in a deal that was reportedly worth £45million but has failed to establish himself at the Etihad Stadium.

Since arriving at the London Stadium in January, Phillips has made eight Premier League appearances but started just three of those and was sent off in the 2-0 loss to Nottingham Forest in February.

Having made a series of high-profile errors on the pitch, there are no plans to extend Phillips’ stay in the capital.

The 28-year-old was born and bred in Leeds but departed to pursue major silverware under the guidance of Guardiola.

He has achieved that with Man City – winning the treble in 2022-23 - but is likely to cut his stay in Manchester short despite being contracted until 2028.
