Harry Kane has revealed how the Tottenham dressing room atmosphere has improved since Emmanuel Adebayor and Andros Townsend were frozen out.

The England star has claimed "one or two bad eggs" had damaged the vibe in the squad last season.

But the atmosphere has been far more positive at White Hart Lane in the current campaign, in which Spurs have emerged as genuine title challengers.

Mauricio Pochetinno's side are second in the Premier League table on the back of a run of six consecutive wins in all competitions.

Asked about the difference between this season and last, Kane said: “Everyone in this group works hard and is working towards the same thing.

“Even the players who don’t play are still working hard in training and doing all the right things to try to get into the team, which is important.

“If you have one or two bad eggs, it can bring others down others — and we don’t have that. Everyone is fighting for each other and we are in a lot of competitions, so people know they will play games to try to impress the manager. We’ve got to try to keep that belief high.

“It has been another year with the manager, building his philosophy. We had a good pre-season and we have a good bunch of lads.”

Adebayor's contract was terminated in September, Townsend was sold to Newcastle for £12million during the January window and the likes of Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Younes Kaboul, Etienne Capoue and Aaron Lennon have also moved on in the last six months.

Tottenham are just five points adrift of pacesetters Leicester City ahead of Sunday's trip to Manchester City and the team's form has fans dreaming of a potential title challenge.
