Kieran Maguire has applauded West Ham for standing up for their fans over the pricing at the London Stadium.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the finance expert claimed the prices at the Hammers' first home game of the season were "indefensible."

On the opening weekend of the Premier League season, pictures emerged online of the refreshments menu at the London Stadium.

Fans were outraged at the pricing on show - draught pints of Birra Moretti and Heineken were marked at £7.60, while a bottle of Coca-Cola was priced at £4.50.

As reported by the Daily Mail's Martin Samuel (11 August), the Irons have threatened to sue the owners of the London Stadium if there is no cut in prices before this Thursday's home game against Viborg.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the pricing at West Ham's 2-0 loss to Man City on 7 August, Maguire said: "West Ham are right to stand up on behalf of their fans.

"The prices are indefensible.

"It is indicative of a much broader issue of being a tenant with relatively little power over the workings of the stadium itself.

"I thought West Ham had an agreement where they would charge the average of the other big London clubs. It looks as if the landlords have not delivered on this.

"West Ham are right to react in the way that they have."
