Leandro Trossard has paid tribute to Arsenal teammate Kai Havertz after the pair linked up in their side's 1-0 win over Ipswich Town.

The Gunners picked up a comfortable win over Kieran McKenna's side at the Emirates on Friday (28 December), with the scoreline not fully reflecting their dominance.

It was however, Trossard and Havertz who combined to score the goal that did secure all three points in that match for the hosts.

With 23 minutes on the clock, the Belgian picked up possession on the left of the Ipswich penalty, before firing in a low cross that was turned in at close range by Havertz to give Arsenal the win.

After the striker took Instagram to react to that win Trossard reacted by sharing the post to his own story, while also tagging Havertz alongside a handshake emoji.

Trossard, Havertz and co. will have to step up for Arsenal

Football Insider Opinion

The sight of two players such as Havertz and Trossard linking up to score a winning goal such as this will be a welcome relief for those connected with the Gunners.

Victory over Ipswich was of course significant in terms of moving Arsenal back up to second in the Premier League table ahead of Chelsea.

They have though now been dealt a major blow with the hugely influential Bukayo Saka facing a long spell out of action due to injury.

As a result they are going to need other to step up in front of goal if they are to remain competitive in the title race this season.

Trossard and Havertz making this contribution for Arsenal against Ipswich may therefore be significant in giving them the confidence they can help to fill that void.

The hope now will be that they can maintain that form against even tougher opponents in potentially even bigger games over what remains of the campaign.
