Georginio Rutter is set to swap Leeds United for Brighton after the Premier League club activated the forward's £40 million release clause.

Football Insider revealed (August 15) that Rutter, 22, is heading to Brighton to undergo his medical after agreeing to sign for the South Coast club.

Leeds United are set to lose yet another star player following the sales of Archie Gray to Tottenham and Crysencio Summerville to West Ham.

The West Yorkshire club have lost a grand total of 18 first-team players so far this transfer window and have only managed to bring in two.

With only 20 senior players on their books, Leeds now have the smallest squad in the Championship.

Leeds United fans unhappy with Georginio Rutter sale

The French forward was one of Leeds' best players last season as they fell at the final hurdle, losing out to Southampton in the Championship Play-off final.

Rutter was second only to Ipswich left-back Leif Davis in terms of assists last season, providing an impressive 15 in 48 league appearances for the club.
