Pontus Jansson delivered a magnificent display in Leeds' 2-0 Championship win over Aston Villa on Saturday night - and fans reacted with delight on Twitter.

The Sweden international returned to the team after missing two matches, one through a suspension and the other due to illness.

Jansson helped Garry Monk's back line secure a clean sheet and also one of the most notable results of the manager's increasingly impressive Elland Road reign.

Goals from Kemar Roofe, his first for the club, and Chris Wood condemned Villa to their first defeat in eight matches and the first since Steve Bruce was appointed at the helm.

The victory lifted Leeds to fourth position in the league table, their highest place for nearly three years.

Leeds fans were in no doubt that fans favourite Jansson was an integral figure in the triumph at Elland Road.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Jansson has made 14 appearances for Leeds, 13 of which have been in the league, since he joined in the summer on a season-long loan from Torino.

The centre-back has emerged as a cult hero among supporters for his commanding and never-say-die displays alongside centre-back partner Kyle Bartley.
