Lee Erwin has reportedly terminated his contract as he prepares to leave Leeds United - and fans have taken to Twitter to offer mixed verdicts on his impending exit.

BBC Radio Leeds correspondent Adam Pope claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that the former Motherwell striker, 23, is heading back to his native Scotland.

It has been reported elsewhere that the Yorkshire giants are allowing Erwin to leave the club without a transfer fee, but the reliable Pope explained that United chiefs are negotiating for a sell-on clause to be inserted into any deal that takes him to a new club.

The Elland Road faithful are torn between claiming he was not given enough opportunities at United and insisting he was not of the required standard.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Erwin, who represented Scotland four time at Under-19 level, moved to Elland Road from Motherwell two years ago but has made just 12 appearances for the club, which did not yield a goal.

However, he impressed while on loan at League One side Oldham last season, scoring 10 goals in 40 matches in league and cup encounters.

It appears that he is now set to bid farewell to Leeds even though his contract runs until the summer of 2018.
