Marcus Antonsson failed to end his goal drought on his return to the Leeds starting XI on Monday night - and fans took to Twitter to give mixed verdicts on his display.

The Yorkshire giants came from a goal down to beat League Two side Cambridge 2-1 in their FA Cup third round clash at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

Goals from Stuart Dallas and Alex Mowatt ensured Leeds did not come unstuck against the fourth-tier outfit in what was a banana skin of a tie.

Antonsson, who played the full 90 minutes of the encounter, hit the crossbar in the early exchanges and came close to scoring in the second period.

But the striker, 25, could not end his goal-less run that now dates back to 25 October, when he scored in the League Cup win over Norwich.

Some supporters claim Antonsson should play more often for Garry Monk's side, while others believe he is not good enough for Leeds.

Antonsson has had a disappointing debut season in English football after joining in a £3million deal from Kalmar FF last summer.

The 25-year-old has failed to displace Chris Wood as the first choice spearhead and has been used mainly as a substitute, with the match on Monday just his ninth start of the season.

Leeds' priority is to secure promotion back to the Premier League in a campaign in which they have punched above their weight to reach fifth position after 25 matches.

But they will now fancy a run in the FA Cup after the fourth round draw handed them a trip to either League One side AFC Wimbledon or non-league Sutton.
